  • Who is Brand Relations

    -Set up in 2010
-Brand Relations is an Attack Media Group joint venture with independent status
-Helping brands and their agencies, broadcasters and event organizers develop music related marketing & communications strategies.
-Experience and expertise in Record Industry, Brand strategy, Advertising & Media.

Brand Relations music is provided by AttackTrax.com

    How We Work With Brands

Bridging the gap between brands and the music world:
The focus of our business is in helping brands, broadcasters, event organizers and their agencies (PR, Advertising, Sales Promotion, Sponsorship and Media) to effortlessly use our music related properties as a communication device.

We develop communication strategies to deliver outstanding musical opportunities and solutions to our clients and their target market, based on the strength that music is a universal language, reaching and creating emotion with any target market and demographic.

In December 2010, Brand Relation became part of the Attack Media Group. So while keeping our independence, we now have Attack Media Groups support and resources to draw on, whilst being able to work with all the other international labels, artists, publishers, producers etc.

    Advertising

While some campaigns may just require background mood setting music, many brands have shown how more proactive use of music can reach their target audience more potently and more emotively.
We can devise and deliver music that provides not only a sound bed that effectively hits a clients demographic message, but that also acts as a marketing device, bringing music industry partners and their contributed marketing efforts, brand ambassadorial opportunities cross promotional activities etc.

Music plays a vital role with recall of a brand. The sonic identity of a brand should be a true reflection of its brand values. We are able to utilize our extensive experience to look at the bigger picture and truly integrate advertising campaigns into the other elements of the marketing mix.

    Corporate A & R

A&R (Artists and Repertoire) involves finding the artists and producers, selecting repertoire and managing the process of developing, creating and recording music.

We help brands and their agencies by fulfilling the A&R role - Selecting the appropriate teams and correct music to fit the brand values associated with a corporate business identity. The music (sonic logo) is after all, an identity, which has as much importance as the visual logo of a brand.

    PR

Music generates massive multimedia coverage (column inches). Radio and TV cant function without it. Any brand or organization, however big or small can utilize music and the media coverage generated from it to its advantage by linking itself with a music related property (whether it be an artiste, music event etc.)

    Sales Promotion / Music Rewards

Since music grabs attention and emotion across all demographics, it can be used as an effective incentive or reward (regardless whether in a B2B or B2C environment). We are able to deliver a multitude of bespoke solutions for reward based products:

From a Gift With Purchase (GWP), through to customer loyalty rewards or call to action, music can provide intelligent solutions for brands through a variety of mediums including:
    -CDs
    -Downloads
    -Ring tones
    -DVD
    -Concert tickets
    -Artist meet & greets
    -Merchandise
    -Special events

    Events

There is nothing like music that brings an event to life. Whether it is a major international sports event (such as a World Cup) , corporate or charity event (such as Christian Childrens Fund), we have a proven track record in devising and implementing the most effective music strategy, be it an official anthem, official album, event ambassador or sonic logo. Our expertise enables us to advise, devise and deliver whilst integrating official sponsors and partners into the musical activities surrounding an event.

    Broadcast

The sonic/audio identity of radio, television or internet broadcast programs and promos can be key to their success. In addition to having the skills and successes in developing and delivering the right music to brief, we are able to further utilize music as a marketing device by bringing in music industry partners.

    Testing

As part of our A&R service, we are able to provide thorough panel based testing for music, to ensure that the music works and is accepted by the target demographic or audience (in the same way as product testing or advertising research works).

    Intern Endorsement #1

    January 9th, 2010

Hailing from Trinidad, I came back to Canada late last year to get my foot in the door with one of those music-engineering schools. Costing was a huge factor and then I met Mark through a family friend and he offered to let me sit in on one of his sessions for an upcoming artist he was producing. Wow, what an experience. Not only was the costing reasonable but I got a letter of recommendation as well.

After that first session with Mark I was hooked. His ability and control of the session, and having everybody laugh and have fun in the process was not only amazing but essential. He knows exactly what must be accomplished each and everyday to stay on time and on budget. Something that is not taught at Harris, Trebas or Metalworks.

After I registered, Mark had me get behind the desk and without much knowledge of the record making process he helped me through it with patience and understanding. The beauty of Marks program is that I am in the studio 24/7 with him and a live band and not in the classroom listening to a teacher trying to explain to me how to make a record on a blackboard. The studio environment rocks.

I highly recommend Marks Internship Program. It was a blast !!!

    Anthony Mahabir

    Intern Endorsement #2

    February 19th, 2010

After searching out numerous schools that worked exclusively in the audio engineering area the expense was simply too much for me to bear. Some schools were charging upwards of $20,000 to teach me how to make a record.

A search on the web revealed Marks Internship Program that allowed me to immediately get behind the wheel of a major production with a Platinum award winning producer/engineer and actually walk out with a credit for my work, at a fraction of the cost. As we all know in the music business your credits are your currency.

The expense was small and the return was great considering I received full engineering credit as Mark threw me into the hot seat time after time, immediately gaining knowledge and experience along the way, following his leads and guidance. All I really had to do was watch and listen.

I also realised that the record making process involves more than twisting knobs and positioning microphones and got an in-depth look as to how performances and sounds are extracted from the artist. All in all an outstanding experience from song selection to final production including the psychology of the studio, something the techie schools DO NOT teach.

-- An entrepreneur's view of the NEW music business
TARGET AUDIENCE: University & College Students

    INTRODUCTION / GOALS:

The Attack Group of Companies started six years ago in a small one-room apartment in Toronto, Canada as an independent record label. It is now one of the rising stars in supplying across-the-board entertainment content in music, film and television sectors around the world. At the helm is Mark S. Berry, an engineer/producer with 35 Gold and Platinum records to his credit. Mark shares his music and career related experiences in an effort to help others explore their creative interests, and to inspire them to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals in the path of life that they choose. Mark truly has an inside view of the entertainment business from the majors to the independents as he deals with all of them in music, film and television on a daily basis.

    PRESENTATION:

As an entrepreneur, he has guided his own career from humble beginnings in Brooklyn NY, onto London England, where he apprenticed under Sir George Martin (The Beatles) as an assistant engineer. Nine years at Vanguard Records taught him the inside ropes of the record business and learning the most from each of his experiences, making choices that have allowed him to pursue his dreams and achieve his goals. Mark has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business from David Bowie & Paul McCartney to Burton Cummings & Duran Duran.

Mark Berry is a success story, both professionally and personally. As he continues to propel his career forward through the Attack Group, he has developed strategies that keep him on a path of continued success while maintaining his creative artistic integrity and delivering quality content to the world's largest media buyers.

Always opinionated and controversial, Mark is able to stay on course, recognize and capitalize on existing opportunities, constantly creating new opportunities for his artists and clients, serve with a social conscience, and market his career in a focused and proactive fashion. In this interactive seminar, he teaches students how to apply these same principals to their own endeavors, enabling them to pursue a successful musical career, with great entrepreneurial flair, while also being a successful creative artist and human being in the NEW music and film business. Most people enter into the music business on the path to achieving their dreams and goals. This seminar intertwines the pursuit of dreams, achievement of goals, and the integration of arts into today's NEW music business and social environment.

"DON'T BORE US...GET TO THE CHORUS"

-- An inside look at the creative A&R process within the music business i.e. song construction, recording, mixing, production & performance......

TARGET AUDIENCE: Artists, Musicians, up and coming Engineers & Producers

    SUMMARY:

It all starts with the song and in order to succeed in this business an individual or artist must understand how the entire A&R/production process operates within today's NEW entertainment industry. At the forefront of this new industry is Mark S. Berry, an engineer/producer with 35 Gold and Platinum records to his credit. a finished product and receive a full engineering and mix credit!

The workshop is based on a single song demo submitted by students and selected by Mark prior to the start of the workshop. Mark then guides the songwriters through the A&R process, pre-production, recording techniques, full scale production and then some of Mark's mixing techniques that have graced the airwaves for over two decades. Berry's desire to share his many recording and production experiences is his way to "give something back" and "raise the bar of excellence." He also thinks that engineering and production based students should really know what goes into the making of a song and that structure of not only the song but production along with sonics are equally important. "The most important thing is to make a connection emotionally, lyrically, rhythmically in that first 30 seconds," he says. "You have to connect with the audience right away, and if you don't, you've lost them."

Watching Berry work and listening to his philosophy about recording and producing is in itself an educational experience. Most impressive is his absolute control over the entire recording and production process: he knows during pre-production what he wants a song to sound like in its final form, and he takes the necessary steps during the recording and mixing processes to make that concept a reality. He controls the process, rather than letting the process control him. And because he has so much experience and such a strong understanding of vintage and current technology, he's often able to ignore the conventional wisdom and still end up with a superior product. "Be dedicated and passionate. And above all, be prepared to take a lot of hard knocks! It's a lot about attitude and anticipating what the producer and the engineer want ahead of time," says Berry. "You've got to be two beats ahead."

Mark Berry is one of the most innovative music and film entrepreneurs around. The facts speak for themselves; he is a master of today's high tech equipment with vivid stereo and vocal images strong bass and hard direct rhythms. With an eclectic variety of indispensable skills, Mark is one of only a handful of engineer/producers who can truly take a project from concept to completion and expertly handle all of the steps along the way. His experience and artistry have combined not only to create top chart hits all over the world, but first and foremost to create state-of-the-art MODERN MUSIC.

  • Business Progress

-Following the acquisition of Graffiti Television (GTV), the company created Attack Urban, which signs, develops and works with new and existing Urban recording artists. It is also in a position to sign artists to Recorded Product, DVD rights and Music Publishing.

-AMG Worldwide Recorded Product achieved a 10% increase in turnover.

-Artist Services turnover rose through organic means with music publishing placement in film and television playing a significant role along with placements of music publishing copyrights that we control with production clients.

-In addition, a New Technologies division was created to exploit audio and visual rights via new media platforms such as ringtones, downloads and insertions for film and television through our online music placement service www.attacktrax.com

-Acquisitions included the US-based KartAttack Go-Kart racing DVD series (signature endorsed by Michael Schumacher), which enhanced Attack's global extreme sports presence and penetration along with the groundbreaking GTV (Graffiti Television), a 10 Volume DVD series on the urban phenomenon of Graffiti.

-Our Seasonal Product division has acquired several DVD & CD properties including The Colours of Christmas and A Hometown Christmas, a CD Christmas tribute to the songs of John Denver.

-The acquisition of Totally Useless T-Shirt's, has added to our domestic merchandising business model.

    Overview

I am pleased to report that we have once again seen a successful trading year with good growth across all key areas of our business in the twelve-month period to December 31st, 2011.

Our established strategy of pursuing a policy of maintaining strong organic growth along with managed growth via selective acquisitions continues to enhance our unique 360 business model. We are ideally poised to take advantage of new opportunities as they present themselves within the wider music and DVD industries.

The acquisition in December of Totally Useless T-Shirts, has added to our domestic merchandising business, and means we now have a truly global visual rights exploitation business model.

We have created a specific New Technologies division to exploit audio and visual rights via new media platforms such as telephones: mobile phone 'wallpapers', ringtones and downloads.

Following the acquisition of Graffiti Television, we have created Attack Urban, which will sign, develop and work with new and existing Urban music artists for management representation as well as for Records and Music Publishing.

We are ideally poised to take full advantage of new opportunities in the music industry with an unrivalled independent roster of international artists & content and we have a very strong management team across Attack Media Group to help drive us forward.

    Financial Highlights

During the period, there was slight erosion in margin within Recorded Product, which has been offset by the overall Groups increased growth. Cost of sales has generally grown in line with increased turnover activity.

While margins in Recorded Product were down due to a greater percentage of global sales being accounted for by finished goods and greater sales at lower margins in overseas markets, as well as increased discounts needed in the US. We are seeing an increase in revenue from new licensing areas such as the Internet (iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Sony Connect and other legitimate download services), telephone companies (ringtones) as well as licensing of our masters and copyrights for use in TV, films and commercials. These revenues are now meaningful and as already stated, we believe that these areas will continue to grow and provide strong long-term revenue streams.

It should be borne in mind that the Merchandising business, Totally Useless, is in effect only six months old and starting from a low sales base, and that the percentage increase in revenues year on year for Merchandising will moderate towards our target goals.

This will also have the effect of slowing the apparent decline in margins to a long-term sustainable rate. At the same time we have been investing in our administrative systems including the recruitment of a number of key personnel into the company. This is designed to allow us to properly manage the next stage of our growth in all areas. We expect this extra overhead to be largely covered out of improved trading on all fronts, especially DVD sales and film/TV production.

    Business Overview

Once again, we are pleased to see that against a backdrop of an apparent continuing slump in global CD sales, Attack Groups Recorded Product division worldwide continues to show good growth, with successes across varied genres of music both from our catalogue and also increasingly from new releases from current artists and worldwide distribution affiliations.

Recorded Product now includes DVD film releases by Attack Filmworks and our extreme sports division, Overdrive Xtreme, enabling us to combine our sales and distribution functions for these releases along with a strong schedule of new products, which crosses all musical and sports genres.

Our joint venture with KartAttack Go-Kart Racing DVD series (signature endorsed by Michael Schumacher) is sure to be a long-term association, which will yield multiple DVD content for our Overdrive DVD division.

With the acquisition of GTV (Graffiti Television), we now control a 10 volume DVD series on the worldwide phenomenon of Graffiti. Ancillary benefits of this acquisition has created the GTV Television series and recently partnered with a major television production company in Canada to produce this very exciting international urban lifestyle cable TV series already being shot on the streets of New York. This partnership has also yielded a 90-minute feature length film documentary on Graffiti entitled The Writing on the Wall: Real American Graffiti directed by the award winning directing team The Butler Brothers. As usual, all music copyrights and masters utilized in the DVD, television series and film soundtracks are from our urban publishing division allowing complete control and vertical integration of our assets.

Television interest saw the production deal with WHATCHA LISTENING TO??? come to fruition in partnership with AMG. This unique branding and partnership opportunity calls for the development and production of a teen oriented pre-movie lifestyle cable series. Pre-production has commenced.

With the acquisition of major high profile masters we are now able to integrate those copyrights and masters into custom made compilations for some of the worlds largest corporations.

We also control worldwide licensing and broadcast rights to all Attack Filmworks, Overdrive Xtreme visual and audio content. We continue to pursue partnerships with filmmakers for utilization of our music publishing assets in their films and continue to seek broadcast and license deals for our entire DVD catalogue worldwide.

Our global distribution network for Recorded Product is now well developed, with key distribution partners setup worldwide, and we continue to create new opportunities for sales, especially in Europe and the Far East.

    Artist Services

We have seen excellent growth in artist services. We continue to work to develop new long-term career artists and examples of this new talent include: Soren Carter (Universal Germany), Bandoleros, (EMI), Chilla (Universal Asia), Kevin Chase (Universal Europe) whose debut releases have received substantial critical acclaim and are touring throughout 2011/12.

Attack's Management roster has also been kept busy working with significant new up-and-coming international artists such as FPC, Chilla and Keely Valentine. Such production assignments have yielded significant usage of our music publishing assets either through integration of single song insertions into the clients repertoire or co-publishing scenarios for artists produced.

Attackin' Tunes & Sabrina's Songs Music Publishing continues to grow organically and we continue our stated policy of seeking to acquire projects from artists as well as reasonably priced and good value music publishing catalogues. Our worldwide co-publishing and administration arrangement with Cherry Lane Music Publishing (Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, The Passion of The Christ, Dreamworks, Icon Productions [Mel Gibson], Elvis Presley catalog, John Denver catalog) continues to yield outstanding placements in film and television and collections of our clients music. Attackin' Tunes music can be heard in major network and cable TV programs such as Dawsons Creek, Roswell, MTV, ESPN, and Fox along with the high profile features The Making of the Matrix Reloaded (WB), Gang Tapes (Lions Gate) featuring Coolio, Harvard Man (Lions Gate) with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Poolhall Junkies (Gold Circle) featuring Christopher Walken and the Samuel Jackson blockbuster, Coach Carter and many more.

Attackin' Tunes does the theme music along with "bumpers" and "stingers" for Girlz TV, Bang TV, Teens Dating and Health & Beauty TV internationally and has done an extensive amount of music insertions in the extreme sports programming area for major cable & television networks like ESPN. Attackin Tunes client MDM can be heard in The Making of the Matrix Reloaded in the DVD and accompanying TV special in the Freeway Chase Scene.

The AttackTrax Division is an interactive website for worldwide music supervisors and filmmakers. AttackTrax inserts hundreds of songs into feature length films, short films, documentaries, television/cable programs, extreme sports DVDs, exercise DVDs and many more that require music behind a clients visual content. Some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry have utilized AttackTrax and Attackin Tunes including ESPN, MTV, Sony, Tri-Star, Disney, FOX, Warner Brothers, WB, Alliance Atlantis and many more.

Book Publishing ventures into retail in the 4th quarter of 2012. The outlook for Books looks very promising; with a key music industry related release entitled "Risking Nothing Would Be Way Too Risky For Me" An Entrepreneurs View of the NEW Music Business, already attracting strong interest internationally.

    Group Services

Our affiliated Studio division Zolis Audio, continues to provide high quality 5-star recording facilities both for our own artists and for external production clients. We now have these facilities rationalized on one main site in Toronto for recording and mastering along with our in-house PostAttack, for audio-visual post-production for a wide range of TV, film and music-related projects.

    Outlook

The maturing of Attack Groups 360-degree business model has reaped rewards across all areas of the Group. Artists have benefited from the unique way in which it integrates their multiple income streams and services every aspect of their career. International major label affiliations further benefited several of our artists and production clients with enhanced worldwide marketing and distribution mechanisms, particularly in Europe and the emerging Asia/Pacific market.

We believe we have a very strong international business and a unique model in music and the film/DVD industry, which enables us to benefit from all available revenue streams of our client's music. We continue to attract interest from established artists and managers who are interested in the Attack approach and we are being introduced to many global opportunities in our key areas.

I am very pleased with our progress and development in 2011. Traditionally, our stronger trading has been the second half of the financial year, when a many number of key record and DVD releases take place for last quarter sales. We are confident that this pattern will be repeated and I look forward to reporting another successful full year for 2012.

Finally, I would like to thank all our staff and distribution partners worldwide for their hard work and commitment.

    Chairman

    The Beginning:

Originally from Brooklyn, Mark began his music career at the Institute of Audio Research (IAR) in New York City in 1972. At the young age of 17, Mark was commuting into Manhattan at night, learning the inside ropes of making records and recording up and coming basement bands. After graduating from IAR, Mark was drawn to the Brit sound and was off to London, England, where he soon arrived on the doorsteps of AIR Studios, one of the world's most renowned recording facilities, owned by Sir George Martin. "I just flew over and started walking the streets of London looking for a job, stopping in every studio that I took off the back of my favorite albums," he remembers. Mark soon met Nigel Walker, who was working as an assistant to producer John Punter on an Alan Clarke (lead singer of The Hollies) solo project at AIR. "That ended up being my first job in the business, working with John Punter. Getting cigarettes and coffee for the guys and just watching and listening in the background, absorbing everything." Not only did Mark gain a considerable amount of expertise in engineering and mixing records but also invaluable experience in classic rock production and orchestral techniques working as an assistant under Sir George Martin. Sir George was responsible for producing arguably the most influential band in the history of rock 'n' roll, The Beatles. Working with George started out simply recording classical records in the different cathedrals around London for the chamber choir group The Kings Singers. He soon began setting up and assisting on various George Martin and Paul McCartney sessions.

Mark's experience led to his first major engineering assignment; Carly Simon's No Secrets album, which included the international smash, You're So Vain, and would become his very first of many engineering and mixing credits. Hanging out with Mick Jagger for the background vocals on Youre So Vain and then going over to Olympic studios for the mixing of the Rolling Stones live 72 tour tapes was certainly the highlight of his early years, and all before the age of 19. However, this was only the beginning for Mark. "I'd say the most amazing session had to be Live and Let Die. Performed by Paul McCartney and Wings, "They had a 63 piece orchestra in there and I felt like I had emptied every ashtray known to man before the end of that one." (In fact, Live and Let Die is one of the very few songs from the Bond films to be nominated for a Best Song Oscar.)

Mark also assisted and worked on several projects such as the groundbreaking Roll Over Beethoven for Electric Light Orchestra, Grand Hotel for Procal Harem, Climax Blues Band and Live - Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple. During his tenure at AIR studios, Mark worked under the tutelage of renowned British rock engineers/producers such as Bill Price (Sex Pistols), John Punter (Japan, Reflex, Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music), Steve Nye (Roxy Music), Alan Harris (T-Rex, Marc Bolan, Mott The Hoople), Geoff Emerick (The Beatles), Chris Thomas (Elton John, The Pretenders, Pink Floyd, INXS), Jeff Lynne (ELO, Tom Petty, Traveling Wilburys), Martin Birch (Iron Maiden, Deep Purple) and Tony Visconti (David Bowie) to name a few.

Return to New York: The Birth of Hip Hop to Independent Producer

With some celebrated credits in hand, Mark returned to the states in the mid 70s. He began freelancing around New York at some of the top recording studios like Electric Lady, Record Plant and the Hit Factory. In 1977, Mark was approached with the position of Staff Engineer and in-house A&R/producer for Vanguard Records (Joan Baez, Buffy Saint-Marie, Country Joe & the Fish) where he worked for over nine years.

While at Vanguard Studios, Mark continued to engineer and mix projects for several of New York's top dance/pop producers and became heavily involved in the early 80s New York hip-hop movement working with artists and producers such as Soul Sonic Force (Looking For The Perfect Beat), Planet Patrol (Play At Your Own Risk), Awesome Foursome (Funky Soul Makosa), New Edition (Candy Girl), Jellybean, Arthur Baker, Freeze (AEIOU), Eddie OLoughlin (Next Plateau Records), John Robie, C-Bank (One More Shot), Tommy Silverman (Tommy Boy Records), Importe 12 Records, Man Parrish (the groundbreaking Hip Hop Be Bop) and many, many more.

During this time Mark felt the explosive pulse of New York City street rhythms and his A&R skills directed him to discovering and producing up and coming dance acts such as Alisha, who after enormous success with Vanguard Records went onto sign with multi-national labels RCA and MCA/Universal, respectively. International deals that Mark put together for her. Mark's hit productions for Alisha included the #1 dance singles All Night Passion and Too Turned On along with the international pop smash Baby Talk, which went on to become a worldwide chart-topping hit, remaining on the Billboard pop charts for over four months. Alisha became the most successful Pop/Dance act on Vanguard, selling in excess of 2M albums and 12 records worldwide. The Mid 80s: Dance Remixes & Rock Productions

Mark moved into the area of 7" radio and 12" dance and rock mixing and re-mixing for major multi-platinum artists such as David Bowie, Duran Duran, Talk Talk, Cameo, Toto, Yes, Billy Idol, Boy George, Kool & The Gang, Stephanie Mills, Jimmy Barnes, Animotion, Joan Jett, to name a few. During this time, Mark's ahead of the times engineering and mixing skills contributed significantly to the international success of these acts.

Marks New York entertainment attorney and longtime friend, Paul Schindler (Madonna, Joan Jett, Kiss, Rick Rubin, Russell Simmons, Def Jam Records) of Grubman, Indursky & Schindler at the time put a meeting together with Michael Gudinski. At that time Michael was president of Australias largest independent record company, Mushroom Records. Mark went onto produce and mix multi-platinum records for some of Australias biggest acts including; Kids In The Kitchen, Pseudo Echo, Jimmy Barnes, Indecent Obsession, Eurogliders, Machinations, The Chantoozies and many, many more.

    New Horizons: The 90s

In 1991, Mark moved further towards rock production and signed with Steve Scharf for producer management in NYC and relocated to Toronto. In that same year, Mark remixed multi-platinum hitmakers, Glass Tiger (EMI) and produced the hit album Get Off for platinum Canadian act Haywire (Attic Records).

Mark also discovered and produced I Mother Earth (EMI) and was the man behind their instant signing buzz that brought 11 international A&R people to Toronto in the fall of 1991 in a bid to sign the emerging band, all based upon a 5-song master that Mark produced at Metalworks Studios. The rest is history as IME went onto become one of the biggest alternative bands in Canadian rock history during the 90s. This rock production brought him to a chance meeting with Hugh Dillon, lead singer for Canadian rock outfit, The Headstones and Mark went onto produce two platinum albums, Picture of Health and Teeth & Tissue for the band through MCA/Universal. Burton Cummings, lead singer for the Guess Who then tapped Mark to produce and mix his live solo unplugged effort for Universal Music Canada, Up Close & Alone - another multi-platinum production.

Mega Canadian rock manager Pierre Paradis from Montreal tapped Mark to produce and engineer the critically acclaimed Outer Limits (MCA/Universal) for Voivod, recorded and mixed entirely in Los Angeles. This is arguably one of Marks most compelling productions with the 17-minute opus Jack Luminous.

The mid 90s saw the advent of the Internet. This got Mark to thinking that it was control of media content that would determine the future of the entertainment industry.

    He was right.

With start up capital from a small publishing company controlled by Canadian media giant Alliance Atlantis, he went on to release, via Attack Media Group, some of the very records he was hired to produce, along with securing them insertions in some of the biggest TV shows and feature length films in the entertainment business. While creating quite a buzz with his new talent (that the majors were as usual ignoring), Mark was putting together international licensing and insertion deals for masters that he was involved with either as a producer, co-publisher or master owner.

Present Day C Having a lot of fun building his own company:

Mark is presently at the helm of the Attack Media Group (AMG). AMG is a fully independent media company with an international mandate for promoting/marketing new and emerging artists and film/DVD content on the international scene. Literally starting in his bedroom 11 years ago, AMGs rock and urban record division has over 60 masters that are distributed in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

A DVD animation series is currently in development.

AMG controls the worldwide master rights to the very first Frank Sinatra single called Our Love recorded in 1939 at the age of 19. With broad ancillary rights associated with the master, AMG has a feature length MOW in development with one of Canada's most respected directors.

Attackin Tunes, AMGs music publishing division is 50% owned by one of the world's largest independent music publishers, Cherry Lane Music Publishing, Inc. A few weeks out of the year Mark hits the road with his Lecture & Workshop series to speak at some of the most prestigious universities and colleges talking about his position as producer/engineer/A&R scout combined with his role as chairman of a fledgling media company. A must for any up and comer in the music and film business filled with unbelievable stories of becoming an entrepreneur in the business, the pitfalls along with the massive successes. He has also spoken as a panelist and moderator at many of the worlds most distinguished music conferences like NXNE (North by Northeast), CMW (Canadian Music Week), Music West, Millennium Music Conference, New Music Seminar & CHINA AV (Shanghai).

Since the fall of 1998, Mark has attended the University of Toronto, Innis College, undergraduate program and is specializing in Cinema Studies to further assist him in his move towards feature length film production.

MarkBerry.com is intended as a resource guide to one of the most innovative music and film entrepreneurs around. Always opinionated and controversial, the facts speak for themselves; Mark S. Berry is a master of todays high tech equipment with vivid stereo and vocal images, strong bass and hard direct rhythms. With an eclectic variety of indispensable skills, Mark is one of only a handful of producers who can truly take a project from concept to completion and expertly handle all of the steps along the way. His experience and artistry have combined not only to create current top chart hits all over the world, but first and foremost to create state-of-the-art modern music. He is currently conquering the eardrums of record executives with his latest international productions.

I have a music production/engineering/mixing career that spans 30 years with over 36 international Gold and Platinum record awards to my credit. The Grammy and Juno nominated artists I have worked with include David Bowie, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Boy George, YES, Joan Jett, Cameo, Kool & The Gang to name a few.

My Canadian productions have included I Mother Earth, 2 Platinum albums for The Headstones, The Killjoys, Nothing In Particular, Fence, Burton Cummings (The Guess Who) Platinum solo effort, Up Close & Alone and many many more.

Check out www.markberry.com for my full discography and showreel.

Originally from Brooklyn, NYC, I began my career at AIR Studios in London, under the tutelage of Sir George Martin, the producer of the Beatles. My first major engineering assignment; Carly Simon's No Secrets included, You're So Vain, and would become my very first engineering credit. YES, I do know who its about...

I am presently at the helm of the Attack Media Group, an independent media company signing emerging artists along with film & DVD content internationally. Attack's music publishing division is 50% owned by one of the world's largest independent music publishers, Cherry Lane Music (Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, The Passion of the Christ, Elvis Presley, John Denver). Our music can be heard on MTV, ESPN, Dawson's Creek, America's Most Wanted, Roswell and many more along with films such as Poolhall Junkies (Chrisopher Walken), Harvard Man (Sarah Michelle Geller), the controversial urban Gang Tapes, the upcoming Jimmy & Judy starring Edward Furlong (The Terminator) & Rachael Bella (The Ring) and The Making of The Matrix Reloaded to name a few. Attack's most recent success is the Kanye West produced Malik Yusef album, which can be heard on the hit MTV soundtrack, Coach Carter starring Samuel L. Jackson.

I am the executive producer of Graffiti Television and recently completed executive producing The Writing on the Wall, a 90-minute documentary on Graffiti.

My latest venture includes www.attacktrax.com, an interactive website for filmmakers & music supervisors to easily source music for any film, television show, radio/tv commercial or DVD project. AttackTrax.com client ACM Music, has placed "I Love Doing Texas With You" by the late Tom Wesselmann into the critically acclaimed, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. The film directed by Ang Lee has already won 6 Golden Globe Awards along with 3 Academy Awards for Best Music, Best Screenplay & Best Director.

Every few months I hit the road with my Lecture & Workshop series to speak at some of the most prestigious universities, colleges and technical schools in the world like OIART (Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology) and Seneca College talking about my position as producer/engineer/A&R scout combined with my role as president/CEO of a fledgling media company.

I am also a speaker and moderator of choice at many of the worlds most distinguished music conferences like the recent China AV (Shanghai, China), The Global Entertainment & Media Summit (NYC), The Industry Connection (Milwaukee), CMW (Canadian Music Week - Toronto), Cutting Edge (New Orleans), NXNE (North by Northeast - Toronto), Music West (Vancouver), New Music Seminar (NYC), Australian Music Conference (Sydney) and the Millennium Music Conference (Harrisburg, PA).

I attended the University of Toronto, Innis College, undergraduate program specializing in Cinema Studies to further assist me in my move towards feature length film production. (Film interns can contact me directly at mark@attackmediagroup.com)

My first book, coming in Fall 2012,"Risking Nothing Would Be Way To Risky For Me", gives insight to being an entrepreneur in todays ever-changing music and media world.

On each e-mail you receive, you are given the opportunity to unsubscribe; when you unsubscribe, we remove your e-mail address permanently from that mailing list.

    - All waste from our Head Office in Toronto, which houses all Attack Media Group employees, is taken away and sorted for recycling.
    - We encourage the use of public transport by employees and have cycle parking facilities on premises.

    - aim to minimize waste wherever possible through better use of resources.
    - aim to recycle as much paper and packaging material as possible.
    - monitor our water and energy efficiency.
    - minimize the use of solvents and lead-based paints.
